Why are diffusion and osmosis required in the germination of seed?

At the same temperature diffusion is slower in gas than in liquid.

Rate of diffusion decrease with decrease in temperature.

During diffusion, molecules move from a region of higher concentration to one of lower concentration.

During osmosis, solute molecules cannot cross the semipermeable membrane.

Some concentrated sugar solution was added to the water. Sugar molecules will spread through water. So the difference in concentration of sugar between different parts of the solution will decrease progressively.
