Alluvial Fans $\to$ These are formed when a stream leaves a confined valley and enters a plain region. The velocity of streams gets checked when it flows from steeper slopes to gentle slopes and thus sediments get deposited in the lower base of the mountains. A series of alluvial fans together form alluvial plains also known as Bajada.

Delta $\to$ These are triangular-shaped deposition formed at the river mouth. It is like alluvial fans but develops at a different location. When a river enters into a sea, its velocity gets checked and deposition is accelerated. These are flat fertile lands and support the heavy population. E.g Sundarban delta, Nile delta.

Floodplain deposits $\to$ It is a major landform of river deposition. These are areas of flat or low land bordering the channel on one or both sides at the bank level. These areas get submerged during floods. Associated features include meanders, oxbow lake and natural levees

a) Meanders- When the river flows across the flood plain in broad sweeping curves.

b) Oxbow lake- When a meander grows and becomes bulb-shaped due to erosion outward and deposition inside, finally meander loop gets cut off and forms a horse-shoe lake or oxbow lake

c) Natural levees- These are broad, low ridges formed along the river bank during floods.
