1. Take an iron nail. 
2. Observe it carefully. Is it shining? 
3. Now rub the surface with sandpaper, 
4. Now observe it carefully. Is it lustrous now? 
5. Note down your observations.

1. Take small samples of different materials such as sugar, salt, potassium permanganate, chalk and sand, Take a test tube and put small amount of these samples separately. 
2. Put a little amount of water in them and stir. Note the difference after some time. 
3. Record the observations in a table and state whether they are soluble/insoluble in water. 

• Take samples of lemon juice, vinegar, groundnut oil, kerosene and honey.
• Now pour small amounts of these liquids into the test tubes.
• Fill it up to half with water and stir it well.
• Let it stay for five minutes and after that observe whether the liquid mixes with water.

Record your observation in a table and state whether they are miscible or immiscible.

1. Collect different materials such as an iron nail, a coin, a piece of wood, a small rock, a dry leaf, a cork, etc. 
2. Take a beaker half-filled with water. 
3. Drop all these objects into the beaker one by one. What do you observe?
