The state document which is established for documenting limited and endangered species of animals, plants and fungi as well as some local subspecies that live within the area of the state or country is known as the red data book. It is formed by IUCN in 1964. The red data book is mainly created to recognise and preserve those species which are on the edge of extinction. It assists us in giving complete information for research, studies and also for observing the program on rare and endangered species and their habitats.

Biodiversity can be best defined as the variety of species of plants, animals, and other organisms living in a geographical region. The total number of life forms on the earth is referred to as biodiversity. It is important to sustain the life. Edward O. Wilson is also known as the father of biodiversity for his contribution to this field.
