Preamble to the Constitution
- The preamble is an introduction to the constitution. It expresses the basic ideals espoused by the constitution.
- It also contains the basic intention of its framers and the history behind its creation.
- The preamble contains the following information:
(i) Source of the Constitution
(a) The preamble states that the source of the constitution is the people of India.
(ii) Nature of Indian State
(a) Preamble declares India to be a sovereign, socialist, secular and democratic republic.
(iii) Statement of its objectives
(a) The preambles states that the objective is to secure justice, liberty, equality to all citizens and promote fraternity to maintain unity and integrity of the nation.
