1 - (b) Magnetite is a blackish rock that attracts small pieces of iron. Magnetite is an ore of iron called Ferric oxide. 2 - (c) A device consisting of a small magnetic needle, used to find directions on the earth's surface, is called a magnetic compass. Its North pole is generally pointed red. The needle points in the north-south direction, so, it is used for navigation and for indicating direction. 3 - (a) A magnet is a material that produces a magnetic field and the substances which get attracted towards the magnet are known as magnetic substances.
