The cytoplasm is the jelly-like substance inside the cell which is surrounded by a cell membrane. It is mainly composed of water, salts, and proteins. The cellular activities such as metabolic pathways take place within the cytoplasm and it is also responsible for storing and releasing energy. The cytoplasm has a nucleus and other cell organelles such as mitochondria, chloroplast, ribosome, etc.

The nucleus is an organelle found in eukaryotic cells. It is enclosed inside a nuclear membrane and it contains most of the cell's genetic material. The function of the nucleus is to control and regulate all the activities taking place inside the cell. The nucleus is one of the major structure in the cell occupying 10% of the total cell volume.
