PIL means Public Interest Litigation. It was introduced during the $1980$ s. In the system of PIL, cases are filed by other private parties or by the court itself, not by the aggrieved party. In such a case the victim does not have the required money to commence litigation. In PIL, people can file cases in court through letters or telegrams which are addressed to the court and heard by the court. Off lately, PIL has become the most important vehicle of the Indian judicial system. Now the Courts have even begun to consider many cases on the basis of newspaper reports and postal complaints and not necessarily through a suit filed by lawyers. In this regard, the PIL has proved to be an effective tool for the public of India.
