Describe briefly the processes of water cycle.

The continuous circulation of water in nature is called water cycle. There are four main stages in the water cycle as follows:

Step 1 - Evaporation: This is when heat from the sun causes water from oceans, lakes, streams, ice and soils to evaporate into the air and turn into water vapour (gas). Water vapour droplets join together to make clouds.

Step 2 - Condensation: This is when water vapour in the air cools down and turns back into liquid water.

Step 3 - Precipitation: When droplets of water present in clouds unite to form large sized drops of water, being heavy, they begin to fall. This falling of water drops from clouds is called precipitation.

Step 4 - Collection: This is when water that falls from the clouds as rain, snow, hail or sleet, collects in the oceans, rivers, lakes, streams. Most will soak into the ground and will collect as underground water, and some water finally reaches seas and oceans.
