Describe the administrative system from the Central government to the village administration of the Mughals.

The Mughal Empire was not only mighty politically, but also had an efficient administrative setup. The Emperor had the premier authority and power in his hands and was at the center of administration. For administrative efficiency, a number of officials were appointed. With reference to central administration, there were four main departments and officials that headed them. These were - Mir Bakshi, Diwan, Mir Saman, Sadr-us-Sadr. The Mir Bakshi handled all the military payment duties. He also played an important role in the recruitment of soldiers and mansabdars. The Diwan or the Wazir looked after the revenue and finances of the State. The Mir Saman handled the duties of the imperial household. The Sadr was the head of the religious matters and was the Chief Qazi till the reign of Shah Jahan. Aurangzeb, however divided the offices of Sadr and the Chief Qazi.

At the provincial level, Akbar had divided the Empire into Subas. With reference to village administration, the subas were further divided into Sarkars, which were further divided into Parganas. Officials were further appointed to look after the administration of the Sarkas and Parganas. A Faujdar was appointed to look after the law and order of the Sarkar. Amalguzar served as the revenue and finance officer.
