Milk is an important animal product. It contains protein and calcium, which are good for our health. Milk producing animals are called milch animals. The main milk producing animals in India are cows and buffaloes. The milk of goat, sheep and camel is also used in some parts of our country.

Honey is produced by honey bees. Honey bees collect nectar from the flowers and convert it into honey. They store this honey in their 'hives'. The hives containing honey are called honeycombs. Honey is used as food and also as medicine.

Eggs of certain birds like hen, goose and ducks are eaten as food. However, the main source of eggs is the hen. It is a rich source of protein. Birds that produce eggs are referred to as poultry animals. Poultry includes any domesticated birds such as chickens, ducks, geese, guinea fowl, turkeys, etc.

We eat the meat of animals such as chicken, goat and fish. In some parts of the world, prawns and crabs are also eaten and are called seafood. The common edible fishes are Rohu, Catla, Channa, etc. The rearing of fish on a large scale is called fish farming or pisciculture.
