The Red Fort in Delhi and The Taj Mahal in Agra were both constructed during the reign of Emperor Shah Jahan. They can be described as follows:

(i) The Red Fort, Delhi: The Red Fort in Delhi was the centre of the city of Shahjahanabad. It was built along the Yamuna River. Several notable buildings like the Diwan-i-Aam, Diwan-i-Khas, and the Rang Mahal were constructed inside the Red Fort. It was the royal residence till the nineteenth century.

(ii) The Taj Mahal, Agra: The Taj Mahal at Agra was one of the largest monuments built by Shah Jahan. It was built in the memory of Mumtaz Mahal. The Taj Mahal represents a fusion of Persian and Central Asian styles of architecture. It was built in Marble an inverted Lotus Finial, a metallic pinnacle and a slender pillar were constructed around the Taj Mahal. It is also known for its calligraphy and Pietra Dura work. The inlay work at Taj Mahal consists of the use of Lapis Lazuli, Jade, Carnelian, and Jasper.
