First Anglo-Mysore War: The Marathas and the East India Company fought the first Anglo Maratha war, in which the British were badly defeated. The British East India Company and the Marathas signed the Salbai Treaty. Second Anglo-Mysore War:

The Second Anglo-Mysore War began in $1780$ . Marathas attacked Mysore, but the British people were unwilling to object to the Treaty of Madras and refused to support Hyder Ali. That infuriated Hyder Ali, he waged war on the English in $1780$ because the English assaulted Mahe, a French colony under his control. Hyder Ali died, his son Tipu Sultan continued it. The war ended with the Treaty of Mangalore.

Tipu's name was removed from the list of the company's "friends" by Governor-General Lord Cornwallis in $1790$ , starting the third war. Tipu was interrogated at Seringapatam after two difficulties and was forced to give up part of his dominions.

On the allegation that Tipu was receiving support from France, Governor-General Lord Mornington started the fourth war. In May $1799$ , British troops attacked Seringapatanam. Tipu Sultan was killed in the battle, and his army was defeated.
