The stage of life cycle of the silk moth are:
Hatching of eggs: Female moth lays $300 - 400$ eggs in early summer. $100$ Moths lay around $40000$ eggs. Female moth dies immediately after laying the eggs. These are kept in the incubator for about $20$ days. Till they hatch into a full larva or caterpillar.

Feeding Period: The larva is then fed with huge quantities of chopped mulberry leaves. They eat them continuously during this time, they grow by almost $70$ times, shedding their skin four times.

Now the silkworm connects itself to a tree, shrub, twig or a compartmented frame in a rearing house and starts spinning the silk cocoon. It takes about three to eight days to form the complete cocoon. This period is known as pupating.
