There are eight planets in our solar system. The first four are called inner planets and the next four are called outer planets.

Inner planets:

Mercury is the first planet in our solar system. It is the smallest planet in our solar system. It does not have any satellites.

Venus is the second planet in our solar system. It is the hottest planet in our solar system. It is also called as evening or morning star. It is the nearest planet to Earth.

Earth is the third planet in our solar system. It is the only planet that has water in all three states and the only planet to have life in our solar system. It has one satellite called the moon.

Mars is the fourth planet in our solar system. It is also called the red planet as the planet looks red because of the iron-oxide present on the surface of the planet. It is the last planet of inner planets.

Outer planets:

Jupiter is the fifth and the biggest planet in our solar system. It has many moons. There is a small rocky ring around Jupiter.

Saturn is the sixth planet in our solar system. It has a beautiful ring around the planet which is made up of ice. It is a gas giant which is made of hydrogen and helium.

Uranus is the seventh planet in our solar system. It is a gaseous giant planet that has a dark vertical ring which is made up of dust. It rotates sideways. It is called a sideways planet.

Neptune is the last planet in our solar system. It has a dark ring similar to Uranus. We cannot see this planet through our naked eye.
