In a democratic system, intolerance has no role. In a democracy, even a small fraction of people should be allowed to raise their voice if something wrong is done, and if the government ignores their voice, then it will be considered as intolerance. Intolerance can cause great damage to the democratic structure of a country. There are many methods like unnecessary agitations, bandhs, violent protests, which can result in road blockage and an overall disturbance in public life. For normalising these activities, the government sometimes uses police force, and clashes between activists and police can be seen.

In a democracy, the government must respect the freedom of both the majority as well the minority for the proper functioning of the democracy. The people of different religions, ideologies, ethnicity, community and political parties must live together and also respect others' beliefs and rights so that the democratic structure of the country is maintained since tolerance and inclusiveness are the two very important features of democracy.
