The Judiciary is one among the three organs of the government. Judiciary protects and interprets the Constitution and also protects the rights and liberties of the people. Judiciary checks the arbitrariness of the government. The function of the judiciary can be broadly divided into the following.

i) Dispute Resolution: Judiciary resolves various kinds of disputes between citizens, between citizens and the government, between two state governments and between one or more state governments and the Union or central government.

ii) Judicial Review: The Supreme Court has the power to declare any law which is passed by a state legislature or the Parliament invalid if it violates the basic structure of the Constitution.

iii) Enforcing the Fundamental Rights: If any person believes that his/her Fundamental Rights have been violated so he/she can directly move to the Supreme Court.
