Properties

(i) All the parallels are equally spaced and are arcs of concentric circles.

(ii) The meridians are straight lines intersecting the parallels at $90^{0}$ and merges at the poles.

(iii) The scale along all meridians and standard parallel is true, but distorted away from the standard parallel.

(iv) An arc of a circle represents the pole and meridians tend to come closer to each other here. (Any three)

Limitations

(i) Due to extreme distortions in the hemisphere opposite the one in which the standard parallel is selected, not suitable for preparing world maps.

(ii) It is not suitable for representing larger areas even within the hemisphere as the distortion along the pole and near the equator is larger.
