Plants produce a number of waste products during their life processes. As compared to animals, the plants produce wastes very slowly and in small quantities. The plants do not have special organs for the removal of wastes. The plants remove their waste products by shedding of leaves, peeling of bark, and felling of fruits. Some of the plant wastes get stored in the fruits of the plant in the form of solid bodies called raphides.

Plants produce comparatively less amount of excretory materials than animals because most of the excretory materials produced by the plants are further utilised in other physiological processes. It can be explained by the following examples:

The plants produce carbon dioxide during respiration that is utilised in the process of photosynthesis.

The oxygen released by plants during photosynthesis is utilised in the process of respiration to obtain energy for several living processes.

Besides this, the rate of metabolism in plants is less compare to animals.
