Maharaja Dalip Singh and his successors were promised friendly relations from the British. The Maharaja of Lahore had to move his possessions of areas in the South of river Satluj.

The Forts between the Satluj and the Beas rivers were handed over to the British. Hence, the British also accepted Dalip Singh as the Maharaja of Lahore. Apart from this, the British also demanded rupees one half and a half crore from the government of Lahore in the form of war indemnity.
