(e) Given: 23 × ( 80 + 5 ) = ( 23 × 80 ) + ( 23 × 5 ) ⇒ 23 × ( 80 + 5 ) = 23 × 85 = 1955 and ( 23 × 80 ) + ( 23 × 5 ) = 1840 + 115 = 1955 It follows that if a , b and c are whole numbers, then a × b + c = a × b + a × c ∴ It follows (iii) distributive law of multiplication over addition.
