The flowering plants reproduce by sexual reproduction method. The following four part in a flower has been studied: sepals, petals, stamen, pistil. On the basis of the presence and absence of either of the parts, the flower can be categorised as follows:

Complete flower: The flower containing calyx, corolla, stamen, and pistil.

Incomplete flower: The flower in which any of the whorl is not present. If either stamen or pistil is not present the flower is reproductively incomplete. The flower containing only male part is called the staminate flower. The flower containing only female part is called pistillate flower.

Reproductively complete flower: The flower having both stamen and pistil but lack either sepals or petals. The flower having both the reproductive part is called hermaphrodite flower.

Sterile flower: The flower neither have stamen nor have pistil.

For example, the flowers of the papaya plants are either devoid of stamens or carpels, so these flowers are known as incomplete flowers. In the case of brinjal, we can see that both the stamens and carpel are present in the same flower. As a whole, it can be said that not all the flowers have same parts.
