1. Shapes:

(i) Shape is a figure with a closed boundary.

(ii) Different kinds of shapes are Squares, Rectangles, Triangles and Circles.

(iii) A triangle is a closed figure made up of three straight edges.

(iv) A square is a closed figure made up of four equal straight edges.

(v) A rectangle is a closed figure made up of four straight edges with opposite edges of equal length.

(vi) A circle is a closed figure made up of one curved edge.

2. Edge and Corner of a Shape:

(i) Edge of a shape is part of its boundary, the line segment or curve joining the two corners.

(ii) Corner of a shape is a point where its straight edges meet.

3. Straight and Curved edges:

(i) A straight edge of a shape is the part of its boundary along a straight line.

(ii) A curved edge of a shape is the part of its boundary along a curve.

4. Tangrams:

Tangram is a puzzle consisting of 5 or 7 shapes that can be used to form shapes of animals, people etc.
