1 - (v) Earthworm is a segmented worm that breathes through its skin. Exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide takes place through it. 2 - (viii) Frog is an amphibian that lives on land and water. On land, frogs breathe through its nostrils, and the air finally reaches the lungs. In water, it breathes through its moist skin. In contrast, its tadpoles breathe through gills. 3 - (vi) Respiration that takes place in the absence of oxygen is called anaerobic respiration. Organisms that perform anaerobic respiration are called anaerobes. For example: Yeast. The end products produced by the yeast as a result of anaerobic respiration are ethanol, energy and carbon dioxide. 4 - (iii) The diaphragm is a large muscular sheet that forms the floor of the chest cavity. It is an important muscle for respiration. These are involved in the diffusion of gases. 6 - (vii) The windpipe, also called as the trachea is a tube that connects the larynx to the bronchi of the lungs. 7 - (iv) The pore-like structures that are present on the surface of the leaves are called stomata. It facilitates gaseous exchange during the process of photosynthesis, transpiration and respiration. 8 - (i) In cockroaches and other insects, oxygen is taken inside the body through small openings present on the sides of the body called spiracles. These openings are connected to the tracheae where gaseous exchange takes place.
