Mutation: Any change in gene structure or change in the base pairing of DNA causes gene mutation or point mutation. Gene mutation, chromosomal aberrations, and polyploidy provide raw materials for the formation of new species. The mutation is sudden changes that may be heritable or inheritable. Mutations that are favoured by nature are heritable and are the main cause of variations in a gene pool.

Natural selection: By natural selection, there is an increase in frequency that is more fit to nature. Selections are associated with superior fitness will increase in frequency in the population. It is a process in which heritable variations help the survival of an organism. Thus, enabling it to reproduce and give rise to many offsprings.

Genetic drift: This works in a small population and therefore helps in the formation of new species. Continuos mating within a small isolated population causes an increased number of homozygous alleles.
