Sewage is the domestic or municipal wastewater produced by a community of people. The wastewater created in flight is stored in a holding tank on the aircraft until the plane sets down. When the plane is on the ground, a service truck rolls up and pumps the contents of the holding tank. The wastewater is further transported to the wastewater station at the airport serves to empty the truck's tank into the community wastewater processing system.

Sewage or wastewater treatment plant consists of three stages-

Primary treatment-It involves the removal of large or small-sized components in the wastewater through physical processes.

Biological treatment-It involves the decomposition of the organic components of the sewage and reduce the toxicity by the action of microorganisms.

After the biological treatment, the sludge is pumped from the treatment plant into a large tank that consists of anaerobic bacteria which lead to the digestion of sludge that produces a biogas.

The tertiray treatment includes the chlorination of water.
