The flower of the Hibiscus is a reproductive part of a plant. It consists of the male reproductive part called the stamen, and the female reproductive part called the pistil. The stamen consists of the anther and the filament. The pistil consists of the stigma, style and an ovary.

The anther produces the pollen grains which are transferred to the stigma of the flower, and this process is called pollination. Once the pollen grains land on the stigma, they germinate into the stigma forming tubes called pollen tubes. The male gametes are then passed down through these tubes to reach the ovule.

The female gamete or the egg cell is present inside an ovule which is fertilized by a male gamete for form a diploid cell called a zygote. This fusion of male and female gamete is called fertilization. Post fertilization, the ovules develop into seeds, and the ovary develops into a fruit.
