Photosynthesis is the process in which plants use the energy from sunlight to produce glucose from carbon dioxide and water. Photosynthesis is two stage processes light dependent reactions and light independent reactions. The Light dependent reactions occur in the grana and require the direct energy of light to make energy carrier molecules which are used in the second process. Light energy is trapped by chlorophyll to make ATP (photo phosphorylation). At the same time water is split into oxygen, hydrogen ions and free electrons: 2 H 2 O → 4 H + + O 2 + 4 e - So, the statement is correct, oxygen is formed during photosynthesis by the splitting of carbon dioxide.

Photosynthesis depends on the two reactions: light reaction and dark reaction. The space enclosed by the inner membrane of the chloroplast is called the stroma. The stroma of the chloroplast contains enzymes required for the synthesis of carbohydrates and proteins. Stroma contains a large number of organised flattened membranous sacs called thylakoids which are arranged in stacks like the piles of coins called grana. So, the statement is correct which is mentioned in the question.
