The mode of enzyme action depends upon the nature of the enzyme and the substrate molecule, which can be understood by the following:

Lowering of the activation energy.

The mode of enzyme action on the basis of lowering of activation energy: Every compound requires an input of a certain amount of energy to initiate a chemical reaction. This energy needed for the initiation is called the activation energy. Enzymes can reduce this activation energy in order to initiate a chemical reaction, which might have needed a larger amount of energy in the absence of an enzyme.
