From the image shown in the figure, we can understand that in the portion AB, there is a rise in temperature with respect to time. Hence, the solid changes the temperature at that point. In case of BC, it is change of phase, where the temperature is kept constant. In the portion CD, there is a rise in temperature with respect to time. Here, the liquid changes the temperature at that point. In case of DE, it is change of phase, where the temperature is kept constant. From the graph in the question, it is clear that the melting point of the substance is t 1 ° C . Similarly, the boiling point of the substance is t 3 ° C .
