Explain whether plastics are a boon or a curse?

We cannot imagine our life without plastics. The use of plastics does not create a problem, the problem arises when we use plastics excessively and are unaware of the right disposal ways of plastic wastes. Plastics have many harmful health effects. It can even cause cancer in humans.

All kinds of plastic give out harmful gases, upon heating or burning. These gases may cause many health problems, air pollution and respiratory diseases. Plastic bags thrown away carelessly get into drains and the sewer system. Many animals that feed plastic along with food choke to death as they cannot digest it. Hence, too much of plastic wastes in the environment is a curse.

But, these harmful effects can be controlled by proper disposal and waste management techniques. For example, 3Rs principle of reduce, recycle and reuse is the best way to manage plastic wastes. We can avoid overuse of plastics and convert it into boon and not a curse.
