(a) The Cold Weather Season- This season begins from December till February. December and January are the coldest months. The average temperature varies between $10 °$ - $15 °$ Celsius. Days are warm and nights are cold.

(b) The Hot Weather Season- This season begins from March till May. May is considered the hottest month. The average temperature varies between $30 ° - 35 °$ Celsius. The northwestern parts of the country experience up to $45 °$ Celsius in the month of May. Loo in the north and northwestern parts of the country and Kaal Baishakhi in West Bengal are common phenomena.

(c) South-West Monsoon Season or Advancing Monsoon Season- This season begins from early June till September. The trade winds originate over the southern oceans and cross the equator and enter India by the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal branches. The distribution of rainfall is not equal all over India.

(d) The Retreating Monsoon Season- This season prevails during October-November. This period sky remains clear with low humidity. It is the time of transition from hot rainy season to dry winter conditions. During this time, the eastern coastal region hit with cyclones which cause huge damage to lives and properties.
