Germs produce substances that harm the enamel of the tooth and make a hole in the tooth called a cavity. Note: When we eat something, tiny bits of food material get stuck in our teeth. This causes the growth of bacteria in the mouth. The bacteria produce an acid that sticks to the teeth and forms plaque over it. This slowly makes a hole in the tooth.

Pulp is the soft area within the center of the tooth and contains the nerve, blood vessels, and connective tissue. The nerves are connected to the gum through a hole in the root. The dentine is present above the pulp and below the enamel.

Enamel is the protective layer that covers each and every tooth. It is a hard substance on the outer part of our teeth. It protects against physical and chemical damage. Enamel covers the crown which is the part of the tooth that's visible outside of the gums.
