On vulcanisation, sulphur forms cross-links at the reactive sites of the double bond and thus rubber gets stiffened.

The structures of monomer used for getting glyptal polymer is ethylene glycol and phthalic acid are HO - CH 2 2 - OH and C 6 H 4 COOH 2 .
