How might our use of energy affect people's lives now, and in the future?

Energy is the capacity to do some kind of work. The energy is being used for different purposes. During that time, there are some losses also. It is always better to reduce that losses and use the energy in the most efficient way possible. If we don't use the energy in the most efficient way, it can affect people's lives now and in the future also. For example, if we use the fossil fuels which is being predominantly used in case of motor vehicles, then it can increase pollution and thereby affecting the lives of people of the current generation. Adding to that, it can affect the lives of the people in the future too as the reduced amount of fossil fuels in the future will make them depend on other sources of energy. In a developing country, it can have very serious negative effects as people would depend more on sources of energy which are more polluting. Another example is that many countries depend upon coal for production of electrical energy which produce pollution which may get extinct very soon and people will depend upon some other sources of energy. It is always better to switch to renewable energy sources so that we can depend upon it with a very low or no pollution at all.
