I have shares of three companies

in the ratio

. Company A pays

dividend when its

Rs 250

share is available for

Rs 310 .

dividend when its

Rs 100

share is available in the market for

Rs 112

. Company

C

pays

15 %

dividend when its

Rs 50

share is available in the market for

Rs 43 .

If on the whole, I earn

Rs 55, 200

as dividend from these shares, find the number of shares of each company that I have and the total market value of these shares.

Accepted Answer

$∴$ Ratio in shares of there company $A, B, C =$ $2 : 3 : 4$

Let shares of $A$ company $= 2 x$

Shares of $B$ company $= 3 x$

And shares of $C$ company $= 4 x$

Total dividend from company's shares $= Rs 55200$

$∴$ In company $A$ , shares are $2 x$

Then, face value of each share $= Rs 250$

Market value $= Rs 310$

Dividend $= 20 %$

So, total dividend $= 2 x \times \frac{250 \times 20}{100} = 100 x$

Similarly, Dividend from $B$ company's shares $= 3 x \times \frac{100 \times 18}{100} = 54 x$

and dividend from $C$ company's shares $= 4 x \times \frac{50 \times 15}{100} = 30 x$

$∴$ Total dividend $B$

$∴ 184 x = 55200 \Rightarrow x = \frac{55200}{184} = 300$

Now, No. of shares of $A$ company $= 2 x = 2 \times 300$ $= 600$

No. of shares of $B$ company $= 3 x = 3 \times 300 = 900$

No. of shares for $C$ company $= 4 x = 4 \times 300$ $= 1200$

Now, investment to $A$ company $= 600 \times 310 = Rs 186000$

Investment to $B$ company $= 900 \times 112 = Rs 100800$

Investment to $C$ company $= 1200 \times 43 = Rs 51600 .$

Total investment $= Rs 186000 + Rs 100800 + Rs 51600 = Rs 338400$
