Explain why the isotopes H 1 1 , H 1 2 and H 1 3 are electrically neutral.

The atoms of an element that has the same number of protons and a different number of neutrons in the nuclei of the atom are known as isotopes. Hydrogen element has three isotopes. Protium, deuterium and, tritium H 1 1 , H 1 2 , H 1 3 in which the hydrogen atom with an atomic number 1 is having three different mass numbers 1 , 2 and 3 . In all the three isotopes of hydrogen, number of electron and proton is equal that is one, hence they are electrically neutral.

The atoms of an element having the same atomic number and a different mass number are known as isotopes. Therefore, hydrogen isotopes H 1 1 , H 1 2 , H 1 3 have the same number of electrons because of the same atomic number and most of the chemical properties depend on their valence electrons and electronic configuration. Therefore, isotopes have the same chemical properties.
