Human blood is grouped into four A, B, AB and O on the basis of proteins, also known as antigens, present on the surface of red blood cells. Blood is further grouped as RH positive or RH negative on basis of the Rhesus factor present on the surface of RBC. Blood type -A contains only A-antigens, blood type -B contains only B-antigens, whereas AB contains both the antigens. Blood group O on the other hand does not contain any antigen.
