The agricultural activities in India begin with the onset of the monsoon in June. The agricultural seasons of India are divided into three- Kharif, Rabi, and Zaid.

Kharif Season: It is from June – November. It begins from the onset of the monsoon to the beginning of winter. Farmers plough their land during pre-monsoon and crops are sown in June and harvested during October and November. The main Kharif crops are rice and cotton.

Rabi Season: It begins during the winter seasons and ends at the beginning of summer. The crops are sown in December and harvested during April. The main Rabi crops are wheat and mustard.

Zaid Season: Cultivation Starts in early summer and ends during the beginning of the Rainy season. In this season crops are grown with irrigations during the dry summer season. The major crops cultivated are pulses and vegetables.
