To explain the general properties of gases and the laws of gases theoretically, Kinetic molecular theory of gases was generated.
-Every gas is made up of large number of tiny particles. These are called molecules all the molecules of a particular gas are identical in all respect, but it varies from gases to gases.

-As the molecules of gas are separated by large distances, so there is no force of attraction between the gas molecules.

-The molecules of gas are very small, so they are considered as point masses the volume occupied by these point masses is negligible in comparison to the total volume of the gas.

-The molecules of gas are considered to be in continuous motion. They move in different direction with different speed. As a result, they collide with one another and with the wall of the container continuously.

-The collision of gas molecules are perfectly elastic. The energy may be transfixed from one molecule to another on collision but total energy of the molecule before and after collision remains same.

-Gas molecules are moving with different velocities so their kinetic energies are also different. However, Average kinetic energy of the gas molecules is directly proportional to the absolute temperature of the gas.
