1. Communication: Disease can be transmitted from the infected to the healthy individual through direct or indirect communication such as sneezing, coughing, or the patient's used products. Example- TB, pox, skin disease.

2. Contamination: Disease can be spread by contaminated water, air, food, or soil. Water can be contaminated by leakage from industry or sewage waste, Cleaning or bathing can also be responsible for the pollution of water. Example- cholera, jaundice. By ingesting left-over, uncooked foods, one can fall ill. Unhygienically prepared food and the use of artificial colouration and adulteration also cause damage. Example-dysentery, food poisoning. Contaminated soil holds microbes which can enter through small cuts when it comes in contact with soil. Example- tetanus, flat worms.

3. Vectors: These are the animals that carry pathogens in their bodies. Example- malaria by mosquito and diseases like diphtheria.
