Revolutionary Terrorism and Home Rule Movement

Home Rule League Movement 1916

1. Annie Besant and Bal Gangadhar Tilak decided to launch Home Rule League Movement as a part of mounting pressure on the Britishers.

2. It was based on the Irish model and the demand for dominion status was made.

3. Tilak got the designation of Lokmanya and many leaders joined the movement.

4. To give pace to the movement, the Lucknow pact was done in 1916, which is known for the reunion of extremists and the Muslim League(formed in 1906) in the Indian National Congress.

Revolutionary Terrorism

The Hindustan Socialist Republic Association

1. The second wave of nationalist terrorism got channelized after the establishment of the HSRA in 1928 by Bhagat Singh.

2. This association took part in several incidents like- Assassination of Saunders by Bhagat Singh, bombing in the legislative assembly by Batukeshwar Dutt, and Bhagat Singh on 8th April 1929.

3. The revolutionaries of the association also threw bombs at the train on which Lord Irwin was traveling.

4. Some prominent revolutionaries associated with HSRA were Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, Rajguru, Kundanlal, Chandrashekhar Azad, etc.
