(a) - (iv) The special function of the smooth endoplasmic reticulum of the liver of vertebrate is detoxification. It metabolizes various toxic or poisonous substances such as drugs, aspirin, insecticides (DDT), and pollutants which entry into animal's body through food, air or water. (b) - (v) Lysosomes are called the suicidal bags of cell. They contain hydrolytic enzymes which can digest the unwanted cell debris, foreign materials, etc, by bursting on their own. (c) - (iii) Nucleoid is an irregularly-shaped, undifferentiated nuclear region of a prokaryotic cell and bacteria that contains primary DNA material, which includes several proteins and enzymes. (d) - (i) Food vacuoles contain food particles of Amoeba . They are formed by the plasma membrane of an A moeba to engulf the food and this process is called endocytosis. (e) - (ii) Chromatin material and nucleolus are the components of the nucleus. Chromatin material is a network-like structure of genetic material present in the non-dividing cell and nucleolus is located inside the nucleus which is a non-membranous organelle.
