Endocrine glands are ductless glands that secrete hormones directly into the blood. Major endocrine glands in our body and hormones secreted by them are listed below.

Hypothalamus: It is a part of the brain that releases hormones such as corticotrophin-releasing hormone, growth hormone-releasing hormone, somatostatin, gonadotropin-releasing hormone and thyrotrophin-releasing hormone.

Pituitary gland: It secretes hormones such as growth hormone hGH, thyroid-stimulating hormone, adrenocorticotropic hormone, luteinizing hormone, follicle-stimulating hormone, prolactin, melanocyte-stimulating hormone, vasopressin, and oxytocin.

Pineal gland: It secretes melatonin.

Thyroid gland: It secretes three hormones, such as thyroxine, triiodothyronine, and thryocalcitonin.

Parathyroid gland: It secretes parathormone.

Adrenal gland: It is present in pairs and located on top of both kidneys. The adrenal cortex secretes mineralocorticoid (e.g. aldosterone), glucocorticoid (e.g. cortisol), and gonadocorticoid (sex hormones).

Testis: It secretes testosterone and androgenic hormones.

Ovary: It secretes oestrogen and progesterone.
