Thyroid hormones (TH) released from the follicular cells of the thyroid gland. These hormones are secreted upon the stimulation of Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) from the anterior pituitary. These hormones are mainly classified into two types of Triiodothyronine (T3) and Tetraiodothyronine (T4) or Thyroxine. T3 and T4 both are iodinated tyrosine. In Triiodothyronine (T3), three iodine molecules are linked with two tyrosine molecules, whereas, in Tetraiodothyronine (T4), four molecules are linked with two tyrosine molecules.
