1-b The supply of water to the plant in the crop field at regular intervals is called irrigation. Sprinkler method is useful in water-scarce areas such as deserts, and where there is less or uneven rainfall. It consists of the main pipe, to which many pipes are attached in a series. 2-a A granary is a storehouse or room which is often built above the ground in a barn for threshed grain or animal feed. Silos are the structures that are used for bulk storage of grains. Therefore, silos and granaries help in the storage of grains. 3-e Based on the seasons, the crops are categorised into Kharif crops and Rabi crops. The crops that are grown in the rainy season between June and October are called Kharif crops. A few examples of Kharif crops are paddy, cotton and maize. 4-d The plants of the same kind grown at one place on a large-scale are collectively referred to as crop. The crops that are grown in the winter season between October and March, and are not dependent upon the monsoon are called Rabi crops. A few examples of Rabi crops are wheat and legumes like gram and pea. 5-c Chemical fertilizer is an inorganic chemical compound which is prepared artificially in factories. Farmers add this to the soil as it is rich in inorganic nutrients like nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. Urea Phosphate (UP) and NPK are some examples. Column A Column B 1.
