The Western Ghats is a mountain range that covers an area of 160 , 000 square kilometres and extends from the Satpura Range in the north parallel to the western coast of the Indian Peninsula, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Goa, Maharashtra and Gujarat. The Eastern Ghats are a discontinuous range of various mountains along India's eastern coast. It runs from the Ayodhya Hills in the State of West Bengal and passes through Odisha, Andhra Pradesh to Tamil Nadu, and some parts of Karnataka.
