Read the passage given below:
Muga silk is the product of silkworm Antheraea assamensis which is endemic to Assam. It is the rarest silk in the world. These silkworms are reared on Som and Soalu trees and feed on the aromatic leaves.
The silk produced is known for its glossy, fine texture and durability. Due to its low porosity it cannot be dyed or bleached. Thus its golden colour is retained. The Muga silkworms are very sensitive. They cannot survive even the smallest level of pollution in the atmosphere. Experiments conducted on the ultraviolet filtering properties of Muga silk proved that this fibre can absorb 85% of harmful ultraviolet rays in sunlight.
