The force which always opposes the motion of one object over another object in contact with it, is called friction. Due to friction, the rubbing parts of a machine wear out gradually. Friction produces heat which may damage machines. With the help of lubricants and ball bearings the friction is reducing in machines to the lowest possible level, so that the efficiency of machines can be increased. If friction is more in machine tools, more fuel is consumed. This leads to wastage of energy sources and causes energy crisis. If energy crisis occurred then biodiversity may be damaged which is a threat to the life on the earth. So reducing friction to the lowest possible level in machine tools solves the problem of energy crisis and conserve biodiversity.
