Given:
Sangeeta bought $2 \frac{1}{2}$ kg potatoes, $1 \frac{1}{2}$ kg tomatoes and $2 \frac{1}{4}$ kg peas
To find: The total weight she carried home.

Converting the mixed fraction to improper fraction using,

$\frac{(Whole number \times Denominator) + Numerator}{Denominator}$ we get,

$2 \frac{1}{2} = \frac{5}{2}, 1 \frac{1}{2} = \frac{3}{2}, 2 \frac{1}{4} = \frac{9}{4}$

We have to add all the weights of the different vegetables that she carried, to get the total weight she carried home.

That is, $\frac{5}{2} + \frac{3}{2} + \frac{9}{4}$

Convert the given unlike fractions to like fractions by taking the LCM of denominators $2$ , $2$ and $4$ which $4$ .

$\frac{5}{2} = \frac{5 \times 2}{2 \times 2} = \frac{10}{4}$

$\frac{3}{2} = \frac{3 \times 2}{2 \times 2} = \frac{6}{4}$

$\frac{9}{4} = \frac{9 \times 1}{4 \times 1} = \frac{9}{4}$

Since the denominators are same, add the numerators.

$\frac{10}{4} + \frac{6}{4} + \frac{9}{4} = \frac{10 + 6 + 9}{4} = \frac{25}{4}$

Converting the improper fraction to mixed form using, $Quotient \frac{Remainder}{Divisor}$

$\frac{25}{4} = 6 \frac{1}{4}$

Hence, the required fraction is $\frac{25}{4}$ kg or $6 \frac{1}{4}$ kg.
